Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;

And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed to the Lord and wept in anguish.

And he (Elijah) prayed that he might die, and said, “It is enough! Now, Lord, take my life, for I am no better than my fathers!”

“Hear my prayer, O Lord,
And give ear to my cry;
Do not be silent at my tears;
For I am a stranger with You,

and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,

And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward.  But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. 7 And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words.
Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him.

And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses.

And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner!’  I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.

Then He said to them, “Why do you sleep? Rise and pray, lest you enter into temptation.

I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one.

He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.

Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed.

So He Himself often withdrew into the wilderness and prayed.

And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.

Kristo ametukomboa kutoka katika laana ya sheria, kwa kuwa alifanywa laana kwa ajili yetu

Je, sheria kwa hiyo ni kinyume cha ahadi za Mungu? Hasha! Maana ikiwa sheria iliyoweza kutolewa ingalikuwa na uhai, hakika haki ingalikuwa kwa sheria. Bali maandiko yamefunika wote chini ya dhambi, ili ahadi kwa njia ya imani katika Yesu Kristo ipate kutolewa kwa wale wamwaminiyo.

And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.

But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them.

Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

(Be) rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer.

And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment,

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.

(mlezi wa gereza) . . . alikimbia, na kuanguka chini akiwa anatetemeka mbele ya Paulo na Sila. Naye akawaleta nje, akasema, “Mabwana, nipate kuokoka nifanye nini?”
Basi walisema, “Mwaminini Bwana Yesu Kristo naye utaokoka.”

Kwa maana Mungu aliupenda ulimwengu hivi hata akatoa Mwanawe aliyekuwako pekee yake, ili kila amwaminiye asipotee bali awe na uzima wa milele. Maana Mungu hakumtuma Mwana ulimwenguni auhukumu ulimwengu, bali ulimwengu uokolewe kwa yeye.

Nimesulubiwa pamoja na Kristo; si mimi tena ninayeishi, bali Kristo yu hai ndani yangu; na uhai huu ninaoishi sasa katika mwili, huishi kwa imani ya Mwana wa Mungu, aliyeupenda, akajitoa kwa ajili yangu.
